So for those of you that have been living under a rock, the Dallas food truck scene has been the jump off for the past year or so. My first taste of this scene was with Nammi Truck and still today this is one of my favorite trucks out there. They specialize in Vietnamese fusion street food and making mouths happy ‘for very long time’. Trust me, these guys know how to do both extremely well.
This past Sunday I went to check out the happens at Lake Cliff park for the annual Earth Day fiesta. The place was PACKED. Naturally the busiest spot in the park was where food truck corner. Lots of heads showed up, but once I saw that blue and yellow truck I knew where my money and appetite were going. The Nammi Dudes are always hecka friendly, and I don’t know how they do it but they ALWAYS remember names.
Nammi does all sorts of Vietnamese street food, but if you are a Nammi virgin and don’t get the Bahn Mi you just plain dumb. Ok now Let me tell you how to order the perfect Bahn Mi. What you want to get is a Grilled Pork Bahn Mi, extra jalapenos, and (this is the most important part) ask them to add an egg. Oh yeah you’re also going to need something to wash all that yummy Bahn down with so go head and order a fresh made Basil Mint Lemonade too. That right there is the Glut Special.
The Basil Mint Lemonade is the SHIIIIZLE here. They make it fresh every day, and it goes perfect with the Bahn. It’s so good that I think even if Nammi served beer, I would still rather get the lemonade… Crazy, I know.
This sandwich isn’t for all you fancy foodie foodies. This thing is meant to be eaten like a beast. It’s HUGE and extremely SLOPPY. Best bring a bib to this party cause you are going to get messy. Oh and here’s a ProTip: Make sure you have plenty of Sriracha laying around. Cause this thing almost ate up my whole bottle.
So make sure if you’ve never had a Bahn Mi to go track down the Nammi and tell them Glut Life sent you. Follow them on twitter, Here.
